Please visit the Rooibos & Honeybush, Herbal Tea and Naturally Caffeine Free Tea sections of our online shop for the teas that are naturally caffeine free. Our black, white and green teas all come from the Camellia sinensis (tea bush) plant which contains caffeine. Caffeine content of tea can vary from season to season, bush to bush, and even leaf to leaf! But as a general guide, white and green teas contain a lot less caffeine than black teas.

Rooibos has long been valued for its natural goodness. It is a naturally caffeine free tea so can be enjoyed by the whole family at any time of the day, even at bedtime. A growing body of research suggests rooibos may have quite a broad range of other benefits. We are not able to provide further information on this subject but the official South African Rooibos Council has published a summary of scientific research completed over the period 2009 to 2013 which you can read here.
The purity and provenance of our teas is of the utmost importance to us. Our 20 bag packs of Dragonfly Speciality teas (individually sealed string & tag sachets) are all organic, as are our 40 bag packs of Dragonfly Organic Rooibos, Organic Vanilla Rooibos and Organic Earl Grey Rooibos teas (plant-based biodegradable teabags). These are all certified by The Organic Food Federation, and the full range of Dragonfly organic teas can be found here.
Our loose leaf teas (in the metallic green tins), Golden Breakfast and Glorious Earl Grey Black Teas are not certified organic but pesticides and fertilisers are only used when absolutely necessary - usage is kept to an absolute minimum. Fungicides are not used during cultivation. Every new harvest of tea is sent to an independent laboratory for rigorous testing to determine if the purity levels of our teas exceed (not simply meet) a stringent set of international standards.
Our Eleven O’Clock teas. Earl Grey Rooibos, Breakfast Rooibos and Vanilla Rooibos teas are all Rainforest Alliance certified. Currently, however, the best quality teas are not necessarily certified Fairtrade. The provenance and purity of our teas is of utmost importance to us and over many decades we have built strong relationships with growers and master tea-makers who help us to access those little-known locations which can offer the most sustainable, desirable, and fairly traded harvests.
