This exceptional artisan black tea hails from the fertile Yunnan Province in southwestern China, the birthplace of tea itself. Here, in the legendary forests of Xishuangbanna, one can find the oldest tea trees in the world, some of them 30 metres tall and over one thousand years old. Golden Yunnan, one of China’s finest black teas, is made from old-growth tea bushes and is characterised by an abundance of long, soft golden leaf buds. The taste is rich, malty and soft, with an underlying sweetness and a hint of spice. Particularly good first thing in the morning, this tea is a wonderful alternative for anyone who enjoys high quality Assams.
For a perfect cup: Allow freshly boiled water to cool slightly (90C). Preheat teapot and measure 2-3g (roughly a pinch) of tea per person. Infuse for 3–4 minutes. Delicious on its own, or with a drop of milk.
